Wellbeing initiative launched

17 Feb 2021

As the nation continues to navigate its way through a global pandemic our staff have worked tirelessly at all times to play their part in sustaining supply chains across all market sectors.

Recognising that the health and wellbeing of our staff has never been more important, the Boxes and Packaging Wellbeing and Charity initiative has recently been launched to encourage communication, support and charity giving for all our employees.

The steering group comprising of Gavin Richardson CEO; Mark Ryan, Group Health and Safety Manager; Jennifer Riddell-Dillett, Scottish Regional MD and Stacey Austin, Northern Regional MD is working together to ensure a support network is in place for all staff and that wellbeing representatives are available at all sites to engage with staff and deliver group initiatives throughout the year.

In 2021, four group initiatives have been agreed. In January, the group supported Brew Monday a day organised by the Samaritans and in March all staff are being encouraged to take part in the Cancer Research initiative, Walk All Over Cancer.  Later in the year the focus will be on National Healthy Eating Week and Talk Money Week.

Mark Ryan, Group Health and Safety Manager, commented; “The Health and Safety of our staff is not just about legal compliance and procedural matters to protect the physical wellbeing of our teams, it is about having a mechanism in place to direct staff to appropriate help and guidance should it be required and to educate them about caring for their own mental and physical health.”

“In 2021 we will offer ongoing support with our four focus events to encourage open lines of communication and create a sense of inter-site team spirit to raise money for a worthwhile charity. It has been proven that kindness and giving helps with mental health positivity and coupled with the fresh air and exercise required to take part in Walk All Over Cancer we hope to promote the effects of all elements for our team.”
