Celebrating 15 years

18 Dec 2020

It has been a very strange year but one thing that we definitely want to recognise is that we are fifteen years old!

It all began with the acquisition of our Swindon site, which was already called Boxes & Packaging. In a matter of months, the trading assets of further sheet plants in Liverpool, Manchester, Leicester, Birmingham, Oxford, St. Ives, and Bristol were acquired and the Boxes and Packaging Group was established. After that, Doncaster joined the group in 2007, Dumbarton in 2010 and Boxshop, which is also part of the Boxes and Packaging portfolio, in October 2016.

“Time has certainly flown by and we have made some amazing progress in the last fifteen years which has positioned us as the largest independent sheet plant manufacturer in the UK,” said Gavin Richardson, CEO, Boxes and Packaging (UK). “As a business, and an industry, we have also been at the forefront of the continued shift towards more environmentally responsible packaging .I believe that there remains  much more progress to be made across a variety of industry sectors.”

Part of the W & R Barnett group of companies, Boxes and Packaging is part of the Logson Group which encompasses other leading corrugated companies including Board24, Cases24, Jardin Corrugated and The Cardboard Box Company.

“We will continue to work with our customers to find sustainable packaging solutions and ensure the full capabilities of corrugated, and its place within the supply chain, are fully appreciated,” said Gavin. “2020 has been the most unusual trading year for us all in recent times but the Boxes & Packaging team have faced the challenges with professionalism and resilience. Once we have moved beyond the current situation, we look forward to continuing with our strategic plans for further acquisitions, ongoing growth and a prosperous future.”

Today, Boxes and Packaging is proud to employ more than 500 people and has a current turnover of £74m.
