Team B&P doing amazing work for charities
16 Dec 2020
With marathons, challenges and all organised fundraising events temporarily halted in 2020 you could be forgiven for thinking that our charity challenge may not have happened!
However, whilst we’ve not achieved the targets we set this time last year when ignorant to what 2020 was really going to bring our way, some members of our team have organised their own events for charities close to their hearts.
This has resulted in over £7,000 of funds being raised, and this figure being matched by our parent company taking the annual total to over £14,000 – a truly amazing achievement by those that took part and those that donated.
Mark Ryan, our Group Health and Safety Manager, took to two wheels in the summer on a charity bike ride and also organised a ‘Zoom’ bingo night during lockdown to raise money for The Friary, a homeless charity in Nottingham.
In addition, our Doncaster team all came together, albeit it socially distanced, and organised a charity football match for the British Heart Foundation after a colleagues son passed away suddenly due to an unknown heart condition.
Finally, Emma Edwards, from our Birmingham team, is coming towards the end of her 850,000 step challenge for Alzheimer’s. Pleasingly, you can still donate to this by visiting Emma’s Just Giving Page
Stacey Austin, Charity co-ordinator for Boxes and Packaging commented; “This is an amazing amount of money raised this year and shows that people do think of others even when we are all experiencing challenging times. We look forward now to 2021 with plans for the whole group to come together in joint events as well as individual ones.”
