Meeting consumer demands for sustainable packaging

25 Apr 2023

We all know that customers are important, indeed, they are vital to all our business successes.

However, as a growing number of end user customers are basing their buying decisions on products that are ethical, sustainable and environmentally responsible, is now the time to make sure your packaging falls in line too?

In a recent survey it was found that 81% of consumers stated that they preferred eco- friendly packaging materials, and with that type of statistic, buying decisions are bound to be influenced based on the packaging that goods arrive in.

Whether the product is purchased from a retail outlet, or through an ecommerce channel, is immaterial.

Consumers no longer want to have products in packaging materials that are hard to open and even harder to recycle.

This is where corrugated comes into its own.

With a versatility that is still often underappreciated, it has been proven to be appropriate for so many retail channels.

So whilst everyone knows that it’s great for shoes, household appliances and multi product food packaging, have you ever really thought about how it can support clothing retailers, luxury gift brands, jewellery, and everything from bespoke furniture to small batch food and drink.

“The adaptability of corrugated means that our award-winning designers can create solutions that can be functional, eye catching, have a real wow factor or a combination of all three!” said Gareth Stell, Group Sales Director, Logson Group. “For us, it’s about showcasing what an incredible material corrugated is, and how superb designs can be elevated even further with our impressive range of print options, helping businesses to promote their brand identity, or create talking points with their packaging.

“As corrugated can be an outer packaging material and an inner packaging material, more businesses could explore the benefits it brings, especially when 80% of consumers believe that online shipments contain excess packaging.

“Material efficiencies are just one thing that our designers consider when creating packaging solutions to ensure that both business and consumer demands, are met.”
