Packaging and English wine
27 Jun 2022
English Wine Week 2022 drew to a close yesterday – an entire week dedicated to this amazing industry and one which we are proud to support.
Jonathan Lewis, Managing Director at Boxes and Packaging (Oxford) and our resident wine industry packaging expert shares his thoughts on creating the perfect wine industry packaging solution and why team B&P is the perfect packaging partner.
We’ve been lucky enough to work with many of the leading vineyards in the UK and began doing so several years ago when the industry was still in its infancy and was surrounded by a degree of scepticism.
But what anyone really failed to realise, back in those very early days, was that the UK presents excellent growing conditions for many types of grapes that can be successfully made into red, white, rose, and sparkling varieties.
Now, in 2022 some of the most desirable wines, particularly those in the sparkling sector such as Nyetimber and Gusborne, are the tipple of choice for those with a discerning palette or are part of the Instagram crowd.
The team at Oxford has seen the growth of the industry first-hand and intrinsically linked within this is the way that the industry has wanted to package its goods. Now, with many being premium products and now that ecommerce and online ordering is so mainstream, it was essential that packaging to support the industry raised its game too.
Not surprisingly, corrugated is now a firm favourite to protect product in the UK Wine Industry. Its versatility means it can be used for luxury gift packaging, gifted cases, online deliveries and simply moving product from the vineyard or production facility to distributors and retailers.
Not only can corrugated by used for outer packaging, fitting and dividers offer superb product protection too.
Many of the UK vineyards are also passionate about environmental responsibility and choosing corrugated as a packaging material supports this business ethos.
Choosing corrugated can have several benefits to the supply, distribution and retailing of your products and allow you to position yourself as a well-respected producer amongst your peers and customers.
Corrugated can help to build your brand, enhance your reputation, and increase brand visibility and by working with an experienced team, such as the one we have at Boxes and Packaging, solutions that bring superb business benefits in many ways.
