Damage limitation and how our packaging helps

31 May 2022

Minimising damages, and subsequent returns remains a challenge for many businesses, especially as the ecommerce sector continues to grow.

With an ever-increasing number of goods being sent to customers via haulage, delivery and mail companies, there is little wonder that the number of damaged products continues to increase too.

According to the Outlook for UK Retail and Consumer Industry Report 2022, there will be a slight percentage decrease from last year’s ecommerce sector growth of 7.1%. Just 2% is expected in 2022. But, for a market that is still struggling to cope with demand and the challenges of ongoing supply chain issues, managing a higher than necessary number of returns only serves to make things more difficult than they really need to be.

By choosing the correct packaging, for everything from baths to bottles, returns attributed to damaged product can be all but eliminated.

Our team design bespoke packaging solutions, and protecting the product is one of the key factors that is taken into consideration when creating those solutions.

They ensure that:

The product is secured safely within the outer pack
That it is supported where necessary with the addition of dividers and/or fittings as appropriate
That any additional void fill is also fully recyclable
That the pack either fulfils a supply chain requirement or gives the customer a great unboxing experience
That the product(s) contained within can be easily taken from the packaging

By delivering solutions that are bespoke, damages have been proven to be reduced for many of our customers. Indeed, many customers now report zero returns attributed to damaged product arriving with the customer or end use. They are also delighted at the cost efficiencies that are being enjoyed by the business, including a decrease in the costs attributed with returns and also the brand reputation as customers receive intact, undamaged product.

In a world where we are all striving to make changes to reduce our environmental impact, reducing the amount of goods that have to be returned reduces carbon footprints, transport miles, and wasted product that is no longer fit for purpose.

By choosing a sustainable, bespoke packaging solution so many business targets can be achieved.
