Case Study - Design Innovation

Homeware Transit Pack

Brief:

The brief was to design a multi-purpose packaging solution that allows a complete product presentation when in store, a function to demonstrate the product to the consumer and a robust transit pack design for a variety of high value and heavy hand made products.

The product range consists of five products of varying componentry composition, which needed to be housed within a pack design that communicated the product ethos and authenticity of the brand.

Design:

An all corrugated solution comprised of generic fitments to perform and suit the range while being able to be opened, unpacked and repacked without sustaining any damage. Due to the heavy weight of the products, it was a vital design consideration as they needed to be lifted out and replaced back into the case.

The case design was optimised to include the fitting elements from the waste areas. The fittings themselves are unglued and are folded to create robust platforms and dividers within the case itself. They also function as a point of display in store.

Solution:

  • The solution has created a display unit to hold the products and a simplistic design that suits the brand and holds the heavy products in transit, offering full protection and reduced damage.
  • The design solution provided a die cut fitting which offers carry handles for ease of movement and safety of the product.
  • The creative re-design of this transit pack provides the customer with improved performance and appropriateness for their products.
