Case Study - Design Innovation
Display Unit for Car Care Products
Brief:
- To design a retail ready pack that was easy to refill in store
- To ensure it was robust enough to withstand six weeks in the retail environment
- To promote the brand through easily recognisable and eye catching visuals
Design:
The original design brief from our client was for a display that could be used in multiple brand supermarkets and would fit a variety of bottle designs and sizes as well as having products hanging from Euro hooks. The displays needed to be suitable for replenishment in-store and durable enough to last six weeks in the retail environment.
The proposed solution was a modular stacking unit which could be used as a single piece for a counter-top display or could be stacked three or four units high, with separate divider inserts to allow for a variety of product combinations. As a result of feedback during a market research programme two sizes were developed (600mm x 400mm and 400mm x 300mm).
A number of transit trials were executed to demonstrate to the client that the design was fit for purpose and would withstand the rigours as outlined.
It was imperative that the branding of the product was evident in the new design and this was achieved through the use of logo and brand name incorporated into the design of the retail ready pack.
Outcome:
This was an opportunity for us to display our design and manufacturing capabilities and to demonstrate our ability to provide comprehensive retail ready packaging solutions which cover a myriad of necessities contained within the brief. The end users of this pack were new customers to our client and our innovative design has been credited with securing the new account.
The use of a strong bold print offset with product images were captured using a 3D visualisation generated from our clients’ artwork and this enabled us to communicate the visual appeal and practicalities that our design offered.
