The pack consisted of corrugated corners and edges to protect the shower tray. A waste fitting, which located the waste and waste tool. An outer wrap housed all the components in one complete pack.
The material used for the corrugated corners and edges was a DW200KKK 150SC, which helped support the weight of the shower trays when stacked on a pallet. The semi-chem fluting also helped with moisture when the shower trays were exported.
The waste fitting had features to locate the waste and the waste tool, so that these were protected and weren’t loose inside the pack.
The outer wrap aloud all the components to be provided in a complete pack, so everything was packed together.
The pack design fulfils the customers brief, as the corrugated corners and edges provide excellent protection to the shower tray when exported and all components are contained with the pack.
The full corrugated solution removed the need for any polystyrene in the pack which had been the case in a previous designer from an incumbent supplier.
Additionally, the corrugated corners/edges are supplied to the customer fully assembled, assisting greatly in packing efficiency on the customers production line.
It has delivered a very positive impact on the supply chain, as it is an environmentally friendly solution, made up of 80% recycled content and 100% recyclable materials, which provides a great alternative solution to poly.
