MD adds President of Chamber of Commerce Role to Portfolio

20 Dec 2013

Gaining career experience can come from a wealth of mediums and discovering how other businesses operate can be a valuable exercise.

With this in mind, Stacey Austin, Managing Director at Boxes and Packaging (Doncaster) has taken up the role of President at Doncaster Chamber of Commerce, having served two years as Vice-President and three years prior to that as a Director.

“Business in Doncaster and Doncaster as a town is something that I am very passionate about having lived and worked here for all my life,” said Stacey. “Doncaster had gone from strength to strength in recent years with the opening of the airport and an enhanced transport infrastructure to support growth, export and travel. It is now on the cusp of a really exciting time as investment continues and positive exposure continues.”

In the last decade, Doncaster’s Airport opened at the former RAF Finningley site in 2006, a new performance venue opened in September 2013 in the newly re-developed Waterdale area of the town and a new shopping centre and transport interchange was unveiled in 2008.

“People who are unfamiliar with Doncaster are quick to judge and give an opinion based on Doncaster of years gone by,” said Stacey. “In reality, it is a town that has a strong business community and we are proud to have some fantastic, well recognised businesses choosing Doncaster to invest in contributing to Doncaster’s growth and prosperity.”

Stacey continued: “Gaining knowledge of a membership organisation which is operated in a not-for-profit way will contrast greatly with the day job and will only serve to broaden my business horizons.”

Stacey takes over the role from Andrew McKenna who has been President for two years.
