Made in Manchester

The Boxes and Packaging group acquired its dual site Manchester facilities in 2005 just a few months after the Logson Group was founded.
It offers a 40,000 sq ft facility in Bolton and a slightly larger 43,000 sq ft in Bredbury which it relocated to in 2024 having outgrown its previous premises.
Under the guidance of Managing Director, Stuart Clarke, who began his career in packaging just a few miles down the road, the business achieved significant growth carving a superb reputation for itself across the Northwest. Stuart joined the business in January 2021 but has managed other B&P sites at Birmingham and Doncaster in his time with the business.
All types of corrugated
Whilst it works across all corrugated disciplines, it has also become known for the high-quality Shelf Ready Packaging (SRP) and Point of Sale (POS) work that it does for a variety of customers in many sectors. The team are proud to work with brands that supply all the major supermarkets, household names within the cycle and leisure industry and supports a wide range of online retailers both large and small. Specialist areas include working with chemical companies who distribute their products across the world and several brands across the automotive sector, both OEM’s and consumables, for both the domestic and professional market.
Product is manufactured at both its Bolton and Bredbury sites with a portfolio of machinery facilitating this including 2 colour printers, a Bobst die cutter and the ability to process large die cut work up to 2.8m, a new Weipong rotary diecutter, a Box King which can convert triple wall board up to 6m long and a range of finishing equipment for most gluing and stitching demands. This gives the site a broad range of manufacturing capabilities
Also available is an onsite design team which has considerable experience, and which is supported by a brand new AG/CAD cutting table, a group supply chain designer and the reassurance of additional designers across the Northern region giving a diverse range of capabilities and knowledge. Furthermore, the sites have an in-house ink kitchen where a range of natural based, renewable and sustainable inks are mixed to exact specifications. All roles are carried out by a skilled team of almost sixty employees many of which are from the local communities in Manchester.
“Boxes and Packaging (Manchester) is a fantastic place to work and there is a great team that are hugely proficient in what they do,” said Stuart. “They have a wide skill set and this combined with their experience – many of the team have worked at the site for several years – ensures we display great efficiencies and knowledge to provide superb packaging solutions to a diverse range of customers.”
With clearly defined business goals for the coming years the Manchester team continues to support customers across the Northwest, generally within a 60-mile radius of the site. This can range from standard FEFCO boxes but also includes bespoke solutions that are tailored to individual customer requirements.
The team are adept at creating everything from eye-catching visually engaging products that sit perfectly in retail situations to global transit solutions.
“An increasing number of customers are actively seeking ways in which they can make their packaging more sustainable and are approaching us to find solutions that remove other materials from their packaging wherever possible,” said Stuart. “We work with them to guide them through all elements of the process to ensure products are protected, brands are represented in line with brand guidelines and that their packaging supports the company ethos in every way possible.”
