Doncaster team supports mental health football charity

16 Sep 2024

Mental Health FC was established in the city of Doncaster almost a year ago and has expanded beyond expectations. Boxes and Packaging (Doncaster) has been a supporter since inception and has also become its official shirt sponsor.

From one initial session, there are now four across the city suburbs, with the first women’s only session commencing towards the end of June and one in a neighbouring town being launched imminently. Furthermore, it is anticipated that another three mixed sessions will ‘go live’ soon.

Ryan Oldfield founder of Mental Health FC commented; “What an amazing few months it has been, meeting so many great people and knowing that we are providing a community service that people can really identify with, enjoy, and benefit from.”

Much research has been carried out to determine the positive correlations between good mental health and exercise, and this type of initiative only supports the advice given which suggests adults should exercise as a minimum for 30 minutes, 5 times a week.

Stacey Austin, Regional Managing Director, Boxes and Packaging added; “The way that the attendance numbers have grown and continue to grow shows what a valuable service the Mental Health FC team are providing to our local communities.

“We’re delighted to offer our ongoing support and wish them lots of success in the future as they continue to help more people reap the benefits of sport and mental wellbeing.”

The Boxes and Packaging team at Doncaster is proud to be one of its original sponsors alongside fellow Doncaster businesses Dolphin, FEC Renewables, AT Boiler Company and Utopia Design.
