Our guide to protective packaging
28 Feb 2024
Corrugated packaging is amazingly versatile and offers the highest levels of product protection when correctly designed and engineered.
Our design teams across the UK are all specialists in their field bringing a mix of board knowledge, design flair and commercial capabilities to the solutions they create.
This translates into fit for purpose solutions for our customers, one element of which is to help product successfully navigate its way through the supply chain.
To do this, there are a number of elements which our designers consider ensuring the correct levels of product protection are achieved.
Corrugated capabilities
The types of board available differ wildly and our designers create solutions based on briefs from customers and their expert knowledge.
From white single wall perfect for high quality gift packaging, to double and triple wall board for more robust solutions and semi-chem fluting for added performance, our designers can source the correct board to suit every requirement.
Design flair
By understanding the performance of each board type, where to source it from and how the best designs make it perform as expected, customers are reassured of bespoke packaging based on expertise and professionalism.
Our designers understand how outer boxes and internal fittings work to ensure there is no product movement, delicate surfaces are protected, and outer boxes are branded, provide relevant product information, or have eye catching artwork. It’s about the entire pack or solution and they engineer every part to fulfil customer briefs to perfection.
Product testing and compliance
Our teams work with many customers where product testing and compliance is necessary both legal requirements and those requirements that simply necessary to ensure products are protected.
From UN certified packaging and the transportation of dangerous or hazardous goods through to products that require laboratory-controlled drop testing, our designers appreciate the importance of achieving this and draw on their experience and knowledge to deliver this.
Often, they can organise testing and certification in partnership with the customer.
Steve Ward, Supply Chain Designer, commented; “Protecting product is so important and corrugated, when designed correctly, is versatile, recyclable, sustainable, and flexible making it an ideal material for robust, eye-catching, on brand packaging solutions.
“If you already have a corrugated supplier, we may be able to help with challenges you’re currently facing such as streamlining your solutions or minimising product returns by re-engineering your packaging.
“Or, if you’re new to corrugated and know now is the time to switch to a fully recyclable and sustainable packaging solution, then simply start talking to us.
