Our 2023
20 Dec 2023
We hope that your 2023 has been a good year.
Aside from the core business of producing corrugated boxes and packaging solutions for customers across the UK, we’ve also been proactive in many other ways too.
Here’s some of our fondest memories and most significant moments from the year.
We’ve welcomed several new members of staff to our teams and in the wider Logson Group welcomed Dan Watts as our new health and safety manager and Frank Hay as Group Operations Director.
March was our first charity event, Walk All Over Cancer, and we were so pleased to see more team members take on the challenge of walking 10,000 steps each day in March. Two members of the team, Shaun Mather from Manchester and Tony Hatton from Doncaster took the challenge one step, or indeed several steps, further!
Shaun walked between the two Manchester sites (Bolton and Bredbury) and Tony between the two Doncaster sites and back again. In total, everyone who took part raised almost £10,000 and this was charity matched by our parent company. In the three years that this challenge has been taking place at B&P we’ve raised over £40,000 for Cancer Research.
As part of our wellbeing campaigns, we’ve also supported Health Eating Week providing fresh fruit and water to all our teams, educated our teams on positive mental health during Mental Health Awareness Week and in Q4 focused on Breast Cancer Awareness and Movember, which raises awareness of men’s mental and physical health.
On a work level some notable highlights include the launch of our first Business Improvement Academy which saw some of our team leaders benefit from a structure training programme encouraging them to share ideas and develop projects to improve operations.
After winning UK Packaging Awards Packaging Company of the year in 2023 we were pleased to be shortlisted in design categories this year and have colleagues at Boxshop shortlisted for Investment Project of the Year. Furthermore, we were delighted to hold our annual design awards and conference in person once again this year and it was amazing to see the innovative designs and the skills of our designers showcased.
Our Manchester site relocated after 25 years in the same building, only around the corner, and this fantastic new site has positioned the business perfectly to allow for ongoing growth and success.
In addition to long serving buildings, we’ve also had lots of staff celebrate significant milestones with us. We are lucky to have many team members, at all our sites that have lots of years’ service with us – we are recognising those who have 20 years or more in our thrice yearly newsletters. Already colleagues at Boxshop and Dumbarton have been recognised, Doncaster, Thorne, and Leicester in the latest newsletter with colleagues at Manchester, Merseyside, Birmingham, Bristol, Swindon and Oxford to follow in 2024.
We’ve continued to invest in our people and our equipment with new machinery at several of our sites during the year.
Looking forward to 2024, we plan for continued growth and investment, wellbeing, and charity events for our team and to working with customers across the UK to design, manufacture and deliver the best packaging solutions in the UK.
