Improving the supply chain through packaging

17 Apr 2021

Supply chains continue to remain a primary focus for so many businesses as demand for product, challenges from Brexit and raw material price increases prove ongoing tests for us all.

The realisation that the supply chain is pivotal in keeping goods flowing across the UK and beyond is evident; alongside this is the need to continue to develop packaging solutions that support the supply chain in the best way possible either through product use, pack design and the efficiencies that can be gleaned by making change and improvement.

Our experienced designers and sales teams across all sites are investigating new and innovative packaging solutions for customers who are looking to improve the way they use their packaging both in terms of materials and sustainability, but also for elevating business profile and brand awareness.

“The expectations of our customers, and those of their end users or consumers, continue to be of a high priority to business in terms of sustainability, practicality and efficiency,” said Steve Ward, Head of Design and Supply Chain Improvement, Boxes and Packaging. “We continue to work on many projects for new and existing customers supporting them to find new ways of using corrugated or helping those who currently use alternative materials and are looking to switch to a sustainable supply.”

With the combination of sustainability, cost and material efficiencies and brand recognition a high priority for customers, the benefits continue to be realised. Strategies implemented by the team during packaging reviews include ensuring material efficiencies are achieved, appropriate board grades are used, non-corrugated components are re-designed in corrugated and brand recognition is elevated creating consumer driven opening experiences where possible.

“Our design and sales teams continue to be a great asset and will help to support existing and future major accounts in their packaging solutions,” said Gareth Stell, UK Sales Director, Logson Group. “This type of innovation is what we are renowned for and the combined efforts of our sales and design teams will be a key part in enhancing and developing this type of supply chain improvement for bespoke and commercial packaging solutions.”
