Nottingham homeless charity receives New Year boost from B&P

21 Jan 2021

A Nottingham based homeless charity, which was supported by our Group health and safety manager during 2020, has received its first donation from him in the new year.

Mark Ryan, who raised over £8000 for The Friary charity last year, kicked the year off with a £600 donation after raising the money during the training sessions organised by the club where he coaches and both his daughter’s play, Keyworth United Community Football Club (KUCFC).

“The Friary do great work in our local community and with typical fundraising initiatives still on hold we felt that it was really important that we carry on trying to support them however we can,” said Mark. “Playing a charity football match wearing Santa hats is the least we can do, and we were delighted to raise almost £600 from just one event to help them continue the services they provide for so many people.”

The amount Mark raised has been charity matched by the group company as part of its charity matching scheme.

Helen Jones, Marketing and Communications Officer at The Friary commented; “We are still unable to run our regular fundraisers due to Covid restrictions but with the help of local children, and especially benefitting from the generous corporate funding from one of the parents, The Friary has received this amazing donation and taken great encouragement from the combined efforts of everyone involved. Thank you.”

Mark is currently working on further fundraising ideas to support the charity that can take place in 2021 including another charity bike ride and a football tournament.
