Sales in 2020 – a new way of doing something old

25 Nov 2020

Sales is a job role that has been around for a very long time. Think of people such as Richard Arkwright in the Industrial Revolution and Henry Ford around the beginning of the 20th Century. Everything that has ever been invented; everything that has ever been wanted by others has been subject to a sales process whether direct, indirect, or subliminal.

Many industry sectors have seen external sales team visit customers in person, prospect sales in their patches and build face to face relationships, often working with their customers to guide them through all elements of the sales and buying process. So, when those in person visits were curtailed in spring this year, and, even now, when permitted, face to face visits pose social distancing challenges, a new way of customer engagement had to be found for everyone.

The team at Boxes and Packaging has sales account managers at each of their sites and they are supported by internal sales, design and planning to facilitate all requirements of the customer’s account.

Our sales account managers have continued to deliver the highest levels of customer service and, in the absence of being able to sit and tell prospective customers about Boxes and Packaging, the Logson Group created a short video to explain what we do and who we are, so that during our online ‘virtual’ meetings, our new and prospective customers can learn a little more about us and the size of the group we are proud to be part of.

This has been backed up by the creation of an online portal which documents in detail packaging designs, the range of packaging solutions we offer and gives our sales team something which they can demonstrate to customers, in the absence of a physical product. It’s been incredibly well received and helps to bring the box to life.

Digital sales tools have now become a key part of our sales methodology and continue to help us keep our customers and our team members safe. It has enabled us to establish new partnerships with customers and give them reassurance that as a business we are innovative, forward thinking and creative.

Perhaps a small silver lining of 2020 is that we’ve adapted to the situation and have been so pleased to welcome many new customers across all our sites.

However, just as soon as time allows, we look forward to resuming those face to face meetings with you all, knowing that we have our digital tools to back us up whenever they are needed.

If in the meantime you have any queries, please contact your sales account manager or your local site where a member of the team will be happy to help you.
