Thousands raised on charity bike ride
02 Oct 2020
A sunny September day saw another great charity challenge completed, as our group Health and Safety Manager took to two wheels this time to cycle from Nottingham to Skegness.
Mark Ryan, who only took up cycling earlier this year during lockdown, enlisted the help of a few friends to take on the challenge to raise money for The Friary, a charity which is working to end homelessness in his local area.
“This was a great personal challenge for me and another way in which I could support this fantastic charity,” said Mark. “It was a great day, great team spirit and only one puncture, but I think it’s fair to say we were all very pleased to see the sea!”
The Friary stayed open serving the homeless throughout lockdown and continues to help those at risk of becoming homeless, however it has become even more apparent this year that independent fundraising plays an incredibly important part in generating finances for the charity.
Ben Talbot, Chief Executive, The Friary commented; “The total so far has already reached over £4,000 and that will make a real difference to us. It was brilliant to witness them finish the cycle ride to Skegness knowing that they were motivated to raise money to help the homeless. This type of support is going to continue to be so important to us as time goes on.”
The monies raised by Mark have been matched by the company.
