Made in Dumbarton

Dumbarton is our most Northern production facility and lies aside the River Leven, the Northern shores of the River Clyde and just a handful of miles from the shores of the naturally stunning Loch Lomond. Thanks to its castle the town has Scottish royalty links and is famed for being the castle from which Mary Queen of Scots fled the country for France in 1548. Unconnected to royalty but a legend nonetheless, Sir Jackie Stewart, the Formula 1 driver, studied in the town as a child.
On a box making front the site initially opened 31 years ago when Aston Corrugated first began its corrugated box making operations. The plant then changed hands in 1999 before becoming part of the renowned Boxes and Packaging group in 2010.
Operating from its 20,500 sq ft facility it is situated on the edge of town. It has 30 employees with the majority of them from the local community. Indeed, around 20 employees live within 5 miles of the site.
Whilst it is one of our smaller sites in terms of footprint and output, its range of production capabilities is comparable with some of our larger sites. In addition to the manufacturing of standard FEFCO boxes the team creates bespoke designs and solutions and has an enviable reputation across many sectors including food and drink, health care, technology and engineering.
Its machinery portfolio encompasses a range of printing and die cutting machines including the popular Bobst 1600 flatbed die-cutter and YSF Printer Slotter/Rotary die-cutter. Complemented by a range of finishing equipment it also has two Gopfert machines which gives them large and heavy-duty box manufacturing capabilities.
With its sister company Boxshop located just a few miles away in East Kilbride, there are additional options for more complex print and other unique customer requirements to be dealt with efficiently and professionally and there is, of course, several other Boxes and Packaging business located across the country.
“We have a fantastic team at Boxes and Packaging (Dumbarton) and whilst we are one of the smaller sites we have amassed over 375 years of corrugated box making experience between us!” said Jennifer Riddell-Dillet, Managing Director of Boxes and Packaging (Dumbarton) and Boxshop. “This gives us amazing adaptability and experience to be able to manage our customer portfolio right through from initial enquiry, through design and specification, and finishing with production and despatch.”
“The team has worked hard to create great relationships with our customers, both those that have joined us recently and those that have chosen to work with us for many years. It is a privilege to lead the team into the next phase of its history as sustainable packaging become ever more important to businesses and consumers alike.”
