Leicester enjoying machinery investment

Making cardboard boxes requires complex and often large pieces of equipment, and a little over a year ago, the team at Boxes and Packaging (Leicester) enhanced its machinery portfolio with the installation of a brand new Flat Bed Die Cutter.

This gave the site new and additional capacity to produce high volumes of both bespoke design and FEFCO boxes across the full complement of board grades bringing great flexibility to the capabilities of the site.

The Eterna PE1620SA0-Extra replaced an aged machine that had come to the end of its lifespan. It has made a significant impact on the production capacity and production efficiencies at the site with improved setting time realised as well as higher volumes of product.

“Our operating team have embraced the new technology and enjoy the ease of which it can produce boxes for many different customers. In a fairly short period of time our operators have halved their average set time and they surpassed the 1,000,000 passes milestone within 7 months. Indeed, as the country faces the current challenges, April was our busiest month ever on the Eterna” said Gregor Troup Managing Director Boxes and Packaging (Leicester).

“Now we look forward to the imminent arrival of a Dong Fang two colour printer slotter with a rotary diecut facility, which will give us an even greater machinery offering from which to support our customer base which encompasses everything from small to large both in terms of volume and size.”
