Manchester employee has ‘close shave’
21 May 2020
One of the sales team at our Manchester site had a very ‘close shave’ recently when he decided to do away with his hair, all in the name of charity!
Paul Fernley, Sales Executive, who has been with the company for 22 years, decided to shave his own head during lockdown to raise money for a charity that is offering vital therapy, support and care to the daughter of one of his friends.
“Taking on a charity challenge during the early part of lockdown was tricky and this is why I decided to shave my own head to support this really important charity. There really was no time like the present,” said Paul. “Anyone who knows me appreciates that my hair has quite a lot of volume and the before and after were quite significant!”
Paul has raised over £2,200 with a further £2,000 being matched by the company for Just 4 Children. The charity is based in Norfolk and provides support for families to help their children with disabilities and sickness. His fundraising efforts will help with the care and medical treatment that his friend’s daughter and other children need.
“This is a great achievement by Paul to raise so much money and shows that charity fundraising doesn’t need to be paused during the current crisis,” said Paul Gavin, Managing Director Boxes and Packaging (Manchester). “Just a little innovation and the desire to succeed goes a long way and we look forward to seeing other employees at Manchester and across the wider Boxes and Packaging group embrace other challenges for charities that are close to their hearts.”
