Supply Chain improvements top of our agenda

06 Apr 2020

Whilst our factory teams are working hard to keep current supply chains flowing across the UK and beyond, staff behind the scenes are working hard to deliver supply chain improvements to both new and existing customers.

Our experienced designers and sales teams across all sites are investigating new and innovative packaging solutions for customers who are looking to improve the amount of packaging they use and the way they use it to elevate their profile and brand awareness; something, which brands should particularly be focusing on at this challenging time.

“The expectations of our customers, and those of their end users or consumers, have been shifting in recent years and these unprecedented times will only serve to make these expectations more acute in terms of sustainability, practicality and efficiency,” said Steve Ward, Head of Design and Supply Chain Improvement, Boxes and Packaging. “With our typical working processes temporarily paused, we are now working hard as a team to find ways to support people who use corrugated packaging, or those who currently use alternative materials and are looking to switch to a sustainable supply.”

With the combination of sustainability, cost and material efficiencies and brand recognition a high priority for customers, benefits have already been realised for many. This has involved various strategies including determining whether board grades could be changed, designs could be improved, other non-corrugated components can be engineered in corrugated instead and to implement programmes of continuous improvement across all aspects of the supply chain.

Now, the teams, who are almost exclusively working from home, have already achieved success through remote working, design software and creative ways to maintain the delivery of purposeful packaging solutions to support customers.

“Our design and sales teams continue to be a great asset and will help to support existing and future major accounts in their packaging solutions,” said Gareth Stell, UK Sales Director, Logson Group. “This type of innovation is what we are renowned for and the combined efforts of our sales and design teams will be a key part in enhancing and developing this type of supply chain improvement for bespoke and commercial packaging solutions.”
