Sporting spirit raises money for charity
30 Mar 2020
Sports clubs are vital parts of our communities, for children and adults alike, and the current situation has shown just how many people enjoy what they offer.
Our group Health and Safety Manager, Mark Ryan, would normally be found on a Sunday evening playing football, whatever the weather, and paying his £5 match fee to take part.
Now that all sport is temporarily curtailed, he has launched a Just Giving page encouraging his team and club colleagues to make a donation to a local charity, Friary drop-in limited, which helps homeless and vulnerable adults to rebuild their lives by offering practical services, advice and emotional support.
“This charity works in my local community and people who rely on this service will need it now more than ever,” said Mark. “Not only would I like my team mates to support my local charity, it would be great to see other people, who normally play sport, joining forces with their clubs to set up similar Just Giving pages and give some tangible support to our local communities.”
