Supporting our communities
27 Mar 2020
Many heart-warming stories have been reported during the current challenges we are all facing and highlight how communities across the nation are uniting and helping one another.
We’re helping out wherever we can and, at our Doncaster site, the team are supporting their local community with the production of boxes to help the most vulnerable in the Borough.
Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust (DCLT), that normally manages and operates all the leisure centres and sports facilities within the borough, has partnered with the local authority, Age UK and other voluntary, community and faith organisations across the Borough to launch Doncaster Community Hub, which has been created in direct response to the needs of the 40,000 most vulnerable people in Doncaster.
The boxes will assist with the delivery of grocery and cleaning products and, in line with Public Health England (PHE) guidelines, such support packs must be in new cardboard boxes.
“It is our sincere pleasure to be able to support this vital community support project and, as a business that has been operating in the town for over 40 years it is, without question, the right thing to do,” said Stuart Clarke, Managing Director, Boxes and Packaging (Doncaster). “It is amazing to watch the local community pull together to help wherever possible, and that includes our staff who continue to support vital supply chains for us all.”
In addition to the practical help, Doncaster Community Hub will provide other services that include a helpline and online chat service that is open each day from 8am to 8pm, and a place for those who want to volunteer and help the project.
