STEM learning kit all boxed up

During British Science Week, here’s a case study we’ve prepared on how we support STEM in schools.

Objectives:

• To protect the products during distribution channels
• To promote the brand in an engaging way
• To give the used box added purpose

Design:

The aim was to create a pack entirely from corrugated to support the supply of classroom and individual STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) themed learning kits from a dedicated and innovative provider.

The brief asked that the outer box reflect the innovation of the brand and that it should be eye-catching and engaging to draw the recipient in. It was essential that the pack protected the contents through the delivery network and that it was easy to open and store the product within once opened.

Aesthetically, the box was designed to incorporate an element of fun which saw creative, cartoon style drawings on both the exterior and interior. Practically, this adapted 0427, E flute box incorporates ripper perforation and double sided tape which was applied at the point of manufacture.

Outcome:

This simple box design comes to life through innovative and engaging print design. With two colour flexo print to the outer, and one colour flexo print to the inner, the images on the box are easily identifiable. Inside, the black print on white means that recipients can enjoy colouring in the designs once the enclosed kit has been used.

It shows the flexibility of both corrugated and print solutions and the ability of our designer to explore creative opportunities whilst staying true to the brand and how it is represented.

The box is made from one piece of board, is easy to assemble, pack and seal ensuring packing times were kept to a minimum.

It reinforces the brand in school, classroom and home environments to help promote what the client is striving to achieve; the ongoing awareness of how important STEM subjects are, and how engaging they can be.

Facts and Stats:

Entirely positive feedback received from the customer who was delighted with brand interpretation and the creativity displayed

The packaging solution is fully recyclable and can be enjoyed by children after products have been removed
