Leicester Diwali festival attracts thousands
04 Dec 2019
Diwali and the New Year are two of the most important and colourful festivals of the Hindu calendar; a time to celebrate and reinforce family values, charity and goodwill.
Boxes and Packaging (Leicester) was delighted to once again support the BAPS Swaminarayan charity’s Diwali and New Year event that took place in Leicester on 27th and 28th October and attracted thousands of guests to the glittering festival.
“It was a pleasure to supply corrugated board to support this fantastic community event in our home city,” said Gregor Troup, Managing Director of Boxes and Packaging (Leicester). “So many people attend this event and it’s a superb way for Leicester residents, and those that travel to this iconic celebration, to appreciate this most important Hindu festival.”
The sheets of board were used to construct large replicas of the Vachanamrut, a sacred collection of 273 spiritual discourses which form the basis of the faith.
Jignesh Chauhan commented, “It’s great to have support from local businesses as it allows us to manage our costs and still host a creative experience that everyone can enjoy. Our thanks go to Gregor and his team.”
The festival featured an offering of hundreds of vegetarian dishes along with exhibitions for visitors to enjoy and learn from, all of which embrace the Hindu cultural ethos.
