19 Jun 2019

The Northern Region of Boxes and Packaging (Doncaster, Manchester and Merseyside) has appointed a Head of Design and Supply Chain Improvement to support existing customers with packaging innovation.

Stephen Ward, 33, joins the company from MacFarlane Packaging where he had enjoyed a well- respected career in design and technical sales having joined the company age 16 as a production operative, before commencing a trainee designer role two years later. Latterly, Steve held the post of Design Manager.

“I am delighted to join Boxes and Packaging and look forward to developing my packaging design career further, something which I thoroughly enjoy,” said Steve. “The company has an excellent reputation and this opportunity, to assist customers in maximising the benefits of corrugated, is a fantastic new challenge.”

Steve will work closely with existing design teams and major accounts across the region and will assess current packaging solutions to determine whether board grades could be changed, designs could be improved, other non-corrugated components can be engineered in corrugated instead and to implement programmes of continuous improvement across all aspects of the supply chain.

“Steve will be a great asset across the northern sites and will help to support existing and future major accounts in their packaging solutions,” said Stacey Austin Northern Regional Managing Director. “This type of innovation is what we are renowned for and Steve will be a key part in enhancing and developing this type of supply chain improvement.”

Away from the office Steve has two children who keep him busy and is a lifelong, dedicated Manchester United fan.
