A well-established business relationship can unlock the door for other opportunities and, when one customer at our Merseyside site faced a new challenge they knew that we, as their existing supplier, would be able to fulfil their requirements with aplomb.

Our customer had acquired a new element to its business but had discovered a high level of returns due to inadequate packaging supplied by another third party.

“It was important that we eradicated the product damage they were experiencing and also addressed the storage, distribution and supply chain issues that had manifested themselves with the new business acquisition,” said Stefan Weig Managing Director Boxes and Packaging (Merseyside). “A full consultation process was instigated encompassing all elements of the packaging taking into account the storage and distribution aspect of the product too.”

Nine different products were packaged in just five different ways with a range of end caps that were interchangeable to enable easy packing, whilst delivering unrivalled product protection. The corrugated end caps permitted easy stacking for storage and distribution, and a further outer pack provided additional protection during transit.

“Our innovative packaging solution allowed the product to be built gradually adding electronics,motors and wiring looms at various points during the order process,” said Stefan. The packaging can be utilised for single or bulk orders with the latter having corrugated corner posts to make the loaded pallet ready for distribution. “

Working with the client to ensure all requirements had been incorporated into the new design has seen them achieve budget and to date, no returns have been received. Standard material was used, but due to the innovative design and awareness of corrugated capabilities by the team, a robust design has been created to protect costly product.
