Football’s Loss – Packaging’s Gain

31 Aug 2017

Perhaps the most common boyhood dream is to become a professional footballer and for one of our site Managing Director’s that dream almost became a reality until fate kicked him a devastating swerve-ball.

Gregor Troup, MD at our Leicester site was at Southampton Football Club from 12 years old for seven years but, after a career ending knee injury, he began his new employment path initially with the Halifax Building Society. A move from there saw him commence his career in the packaging sector when he assumed the role of General Manager at a Packaging distribution company. He then became Group Regional Director at one of the UK’s largest packaging merchants before he joined Boxes and Packaging (Leicester) as Managing Director seven years ago.

“The entrepreneurial aspect of being a site MD is particularly appealing and means that we can run our independent sites to suit our customer base whilst having all the benefits of being part of the renowned Boxes and Packaging and Logson Group,” said Greg. “This has meant that over the years we have implemented a number of changes and enhancements which have made us more efficient and productive, raising profitability and driving growth.”

The first site to introduce the bar code scanning system, which now manages stock across all our sites, Greg continues to pioneer innovation with the support of his long serving, dedicated team. In the future Greg hopes for continued investment in the site placing them in an even stronger position to support customers across the East Midlands.

With two young children and a dog to take care off outside work, Dad’s taxi makes regular visits to the dance studio where his daughter attends and to the football club where his son is hoping to sign with a professional team, following in his Dad’s footsteps.
