Doncaster to Increase Gluing Capabilities

Corrugated packaging manufacturer Boxes and Packaging (Doncaster) is to install an additional folder gluer in April 2017.

Over the last 10 years the company has expanded significantly, increasing sales and broadening its product range and service offering. The introduction of a dedicated distribution centre in 2015 was part of a long term strategic plan to allow for further growth, and linked to this strategy is the introduction of further production capacity. The gluer installation is one of a number of new pieces of equipment that the site has plans to install in 2017.

Doncaster Managing Director Stacey Austin commented; “Additional machinery was essential to support our growth across all sectors, but particularly in the automotive and retail sectors. The installation of the new gluer allows us to continue to provide our customers with the highest of service levels. A continued growth strategy is also clearly outlined to capitalise on opportunities with existing clients whilst also expanding into new sectors.”

The folder gluer is suitable for a range of board grades and capable of gluing a maximum sheet size of 2800 wide x 1400 deep. A running speed of 4000 sheets per hour clearly highlights its performance capabilities.

The gluing of boxes is commonplace in the corrugated industry and is suitable for use on products made from both single and double wall material. The procedure delivers incredible strength and durability to the packaging solution and sees glued boxes utilised for transporting a myriad of products. It is particularly useful in industries where products need to be protected such as retail, furniture and bathroom sanitary ware.

Stacey concluded; “This additional production capacity for this procedure will allow us to maintain our short lead times which we offer our customers whilst also increasing our work in this specific area. It is the first in a series of exciting developments planned for the Doncaster site in 2017 and this folder gluer is pivotal in installing solid foundations for our future growth.”
