Boxes and Packaging (Glasgow) Extend Timber Operation

03 Aug 2016

Boxes and Packaging (Glasgow) has extended its timber product offering, with an additional site. The 6,000 sq ft site based in Carnoustie has been established specifically to manufacture timber products to support it existing operations and increase market share.

The site was opened in April capitalising on a market niche after the closure of the last timber case manufacturer in Dundee at the end of 2015. The additional site manufactures timber crates primarily for the oil and engineering sectors in the North East of Scotland. The site also offers a stock holding facility for finished goods manufactured at the Glasgow and Dumbarton sites to service local customers and increase its flexibility in supporting its customer’s needs.

Boxes and Packaging (Glasgow) was acquired from Scott Packaging in December 2014 to strengthen the positioning of Boxes and Packaging within the Scottish market place, complementing the existing Dumbarton site.

Scott Alexander, Managing Director at Boxes and Packaging (Glasgow & Dumbarton), commented; “The combination of all three sites brings the ability to provide bespoke timber products and corrugated packaging solutions to our customers. With the addition of a third site in Scotland, Boxes and Packaging is able to serve existing accounts in the Dundee and Aberdeen area, and secure new business that requires this multi-functional approach to packaging solutions.”
