The Big Sleep in a Cardboard Box

05 Oct 2015

Boxes and Packaging have been helping homeless charity Seaview in the form of cardboard boxes.

Seaview is a local charity in Hastings which among other things provides services and support for homelessness and accommodation issues. The Big Sleep event marks the charity’s 30th anniversary.  The costs have been supported by local businesses so that funds raised by those sleeping out will go directly to the front line work of the charity, and the event also seeks to raise awareness of homelessness/housing issues which are increasing.

They aimed to provide cardboard boxes for participants to sleep in, and have been collecting these over several months from local companies piecemeal as the price of purchasing them was going to be a significant cost for such a small charity. With less than two weeks to go they found ourselves still short by 110 boxes and appealed to Boxes and Packaging to help with the shortfall. Mike Stephenson (Logson owner) kindly offered the assistance of Boxes and Packaging. Mike responded very quickly and generously agreed for the company to manufacture and deliver all 110 boxes free of charge – this has very much saved the day and the team at Seaview are overwhelmed and extremely grateful for the support.

The event was a great success and raised over £23,000 for the charity – a very significant sum for a small local charity.
