Doncaster investment continues to prosper

02 Aug 2019

A little over a year ago a major investment to replace an aged printer was completed at our Doncaster site.

The Dong Fang Topra AD1628 was installed and commissioned and since then has increased production capacity considerably. In addition, the state of the art printer, which is popular across the industry, has seen improvements also made to print quality and print accuracy.

“It has been a superb investment for us and has opened up the opportunity for continued growth at the site and across the region,” said Stuart Clarke Managing Director Boxes and Packaging (Doncaster). “Prior to the Dong Fang investment this would not have been possible but now we have a clear growth strategy mapped out over the coming years.”

In addition to production associated improvements it was also necessary to upskill existing staff through robust training to ensure they could utilise the technological advancement and capabilities of the machine to its full capacity.

“The Dong Fang has been incredibly reliable with minimal down time, save for the scheduled maintenance that we have,” said Stuart. “It was also pivotal in the creation and launch of the Asset Care initiative across the Northern sites which has seen a programme of preventative, planned maintenance to take care of the equipment that we have to ensure down time is kept to a minimum and our machines run as efficiently as possible.”

Capable of 10,000 passes per hour the Dong Fang was part of a £1m investment at the site which also saw a new pallet press installed and work flow amendments made to support the increase in production.
