Meet the Designer – Paul from Bristol

06 Feb 2019

Design is a critical element in the success of our packaging solutions. Based at each of our sites, we have designers who deal with every aspect from new concepts to ongoing improvements. We take five minutes to meet our next nationwide designer; Paul Verstraeten from Bristol.

How long have you been with the company?
Coming up to 23 years.

What’s the most unusual/most difficult thing you’ve ever created a design for?
There are too many to choose from but I always remember making over engineered, protective packing for a Helicopter Black Box.  It made me smile as they are supposed to be indestructible.

What do you enjoy about working at B&P?
I enjoy the freedom and opportunity to be creative.

What did you want to be growing up?
Either Bruce Lee or a Priest.  I’m still doing Kung Fu but never did get to be a Priest

What’s your favourite place you’ve ever visited?
The Salt Mines in Krakow.

If you could host a talk show, who would be your first guest?
Jackie Chan.  Great action star, funny guy and I could get a few Kung Fu pointers.

What’s your favourite family tradition?
My wife and I have Brandy and Snickers for breakfast on Christmas morning!

At which store would you like to max-out your credit card?
I don’t own a credit card and won’t waste money on things just for the sake of it.

What was your favourite TV show when growing up?
Has to be the A Team.

What’s the future for corrugated design?
Quite simply ecological solutions. The world is moving away from plastic and we need to be using our imaginations to replace it ethically and efficiently.
