Swindon MD Reflects on 30 Years in Corrugated

01 Oct 2018

Swindon was the very first Boxes and Packaging acquired by the Logson Group in 2004, although it has been trading as a corrugated plant for many years prior to that.

It’s current Managing Director, Paul Fishlock, joined that business in 1989 and worked in production and other roles until he became MD in 2005. Then, turnover was £3.25m. Fast forward to 2018 Paul and his team are now achieving £7.5m with plans to grow to £10m in the next three years.

“It’s been a great journey and a move to a brand new factory three years ago was pivotal in our growth plans,” said Paul. “So many things have changed since I started working here yet, some things remain fundamentally the same – the need for a good team, strong customer relationships and a desire to excel at all we do.”

Paul began his career as an apprentice Engineer before moving into a sales role selling meat for 10 years. Then, the corrugated industry called and he swapped meat for manufacturing!

Now, in addition to managing the entire site, he enjoys visiting key accounts and nurturing these relationships, many of which have been customers of Swindon for years.

“I still get a real buzz from dealing with the day to day challenges of running the plant and I’m lucky that we have a strong and capable team,” said Paul. “The recent introduction of a night shift has allowed us to increase our output capacity even further and it’s great that there is always a new challenge or new strategy to be delivered.”

Away from the world of corrugated Paul enjoys spending time with his grown up children and their families, holidaying and watching a whole host of sports!
