Glossop to Spaghetti Junction

24 Oct 2017

A four-hour daily commute shows the commitment and drive of one our site Managing Director’s.

Stuart Clarke, MD at our Birmingham site, lives in Glossop and takes the scenic drive through Pennine villages to the heart of the West Midlands to Boxes and Packaging (Birmingham) swopping rolling hills for views of the infamous Spaghetti Junction.

His career has taken him from a trainee at the Electricity Board age just 16 years old and a successful career as an accountant followed until he transferred his skills to the packaging industry in 1993. During this time he also helped to establish one plant which we now own, our Manchester site. His final post prior to Boxes and Packaging was as a Commercial Manager which allowed him to develop his overall business skills in the packaging sector alongside his extensive accountancy experience.

Nine years ago, he commenced his career at Boxes and Packaging (Birmingham) and has held the post of Managing Director throughout that time steering the business through periods of growth and diversification resulting in a strong and stable business.

“Being MD of such a business means that the role is incredibly varied and gives me the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the business from design to sales to production as well all the strategic issues associated with the role,” said Stuart. “We’ve got a strong team at Birmingham and we are ideally placed to serve the industries that choose to operate from the West Midlands. It’s been a great experience seeing the business grow and become more established over the last nine years as part of the Boxes and Packaging brand and I am looking forward to the future and the developments we can continue to make.”

Outside of work Stuart is proud to support Stockport County FC, spends time with his family and has an eclectic taste in music, visiting festivals to see as many bands and artists live as possible.
