Trucks and Trailers Upgraded at Boxes and Packaging (Glasgow)

27 Jun 2016

Boxes and Packaging (Glasgow) is proud to announce the expansion of its transport fleet to facilitate the increase in deliveries following growth of its product range and customer base. The corrugated packaging manufacturer, which is part of the Logson Group, has seen its transport requirements catered for by Ryder for 10 years, and it was a natural choice to replace its fleet through its existing provider.

“We’ve expanded our customer base and widened our business area and, with ever-increasing demands and shorter lead times to meet customer expectations, it is essential that we have a reliable, well maintained Boxes and Packaging branded fleet,” said Scott Alexander, Managing Director at Boxes and Packaging (Glasgow). “This will play a vital part in our continued growth as we work with Ryder who we can trust to deliver our daily transport requirements from their Newhouse depot which is in close proximity to our site.”

The new Boxes and Packaging (Glasgow) fleet consists of three DAF LF220 curtain sided trailers with day cabs, and a DAF CF370 prime mover and Abel centre axle drawbar trailer. This gives flexibility within the fleet for deliveries of varying quantities and to varying locations.

“The opening of our new timber manufacturing site in Carnoustie just a few weeks ago now allows us to produce bespoke timber packaging solutions either exclusively, or in conjunction with, our corrugated product portfolio,” said Scott. “Our enhanced fleet gives us confidence in our transport and logistical capabilities and will enable us to develop our market share further.”

Robin White, Sales and Marketing Director for Ryder concluded; “Boxes and Packaging (Glasgow) is one of a growing number of businesses that realise the benefits of contract hire. They can concentrate on their core operations and expand their business, while Ryder services and maintains their vehicles to a high standard. We look forward to a long future with the Boxes and Packaging (Glasgow) team.”

In addition to its site at Carnoustie, Boxes and Packaging (Glasgow) has corrugated plants in Glasgow and Dumbarton. Eleven further Boxes and Packaging sites are located across the UK. It is part of the Logson Group which has three other brands – Board24, Jardin Corrugated and Cases24. It is a unique mix of companies offering a range of corrugated packaging solutions.

With a turnover in excess of £190m, Logson Group is the UK’s leading independent paper-based packaging business.
